One of the most challenging aspects of job search, is the fact that such a diverse set of skills are required to be successful. A job seeker needs to be able to research well, have excellent writing skills, be eloquent and verbally adept, be comfortable communicating on the phone, network effectively, and 'have all the answers' in an interview.
Very few of us have skills in all of these areas. Most of us have strengths that suit one component of job search or another. Realizing this, JBJ has developed Employment Modules to address specific areas. Ranging from a few hours to a few days, these modules assist the job seeker to develop their abilities in areas of less strength. They are designed as interactive workshops that quickly enable you to get to the heart of the matter, and hone your skills so that you can get the job that you have always wanted!
We offer Employment Modules in the following areas*:
Transferable Skills Analysis. Transferable skills are those skills that can be used in a variety of contexts, including jobs, education, and leisure activities. They are learned through the multitude of life experiences that each of us have, and contribute to who we are as individuals. Learn how to incorporate these skills in all aspects of your job search, so that you can show how your skills meet the requirements of a job.
Resume Writing. Learn to apply superior resume writing techniques to get an employer's attention.
Electronic Job Search. The computer can be an invaluable job search tool. However, there are many who do not feel comfortable using the computer, or realize that it can be utilized more effectively in a job search. This workshop is designed for those with little or no computer experience. The Electronic Job Search module will allow you to build up your confidence and master basic computer skills using a 'hands-on' approach. Jump-start your job search!
Networking. Often one of the most neglected aspects of job search, networking effectively is the backbone of an effective job search strategy. Find out how to develop this important skill.
Interviewing Skills. Learn how to sell yourself effectively in an interview. Thorough and effective preparation can pay off! This practical workshop will arm you with the necessary skills to stand out from other applicants.
